Yesterday an hour or so after the game ESPN’s Chris Sheridan reported that Carmelo Anthony will only sign the contract extension only if he is traded to the New York Knicks. A trade can be made up to the trade deadline, but do not expect one real soon. The Knicks are playing great basketball right now and are on a hot streak. The Knicks are not going to mess that up at this point in time. Players like Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, Eddy Curry, and Anthony Randolph have all been in trade discussions for Anthony. But will the Knicks try to get Anthony before the trading deadline or just wait until free agency begins?
So far the Knicks have shown that they can play top level teams and win and with a tough stretch coming up it is important to see if the Knicks are the real deal. We will see how this will play out in the near future, but for now do not expect a deal to happen any time soon.
