The Knicks were on their third game of their west coast trip playing a injury plagued Portland Trail Blazers. The Knicks would start Ronny Turiaf at the center position in which they are now 7-1 when Turiaf starts. Turiaf had a season high 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks. He bought energy to the team and finally showed some offensive abilities. The Knicks led most of the game, but in the fourth quarter they opened their lead to 18 and never looked back. Amar'e Stoudemire had a nice game scoring 23 points and grabbing 8 rebounds in the Knicks win. The changes he made on the offensive end were great because he was able to get the ball to open guys. Amar’e had 4 assist and gave the ball up to the open man rather than taking an open shot. This shows that he has confidence in his team and believes they can contribute to the game. Raymond Felton had an amazing game scoring 17 points, dishing out 14 assist, and recording 3 steals. He really deserves a spot on the All-Star roster and has been as consistent as point guards come. His ability to get his teammates involved is amazing, and his ability to work the pick-and-roll with any of his teammates is great as well. The Knicks went into the Rose Garden with confidence and the will to win the game. This win was an all around effort for the team on both the offensive and defensive end.
The Blazers were led by LaMarcus Aldridge who scored a team high 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. He was in foul trouble early in the game which led to a lack of scoring on the floor for the Blazers. He is nice young big that the Blazers can build around and with the injuries that the team has suffered can be glad they have a go to man. His teammate Rudy Fernandez poured in 18 points off of the bench and played a big role in keeping the Blazers in the game. The Blazers are without Brandon Roy who is out with a knee injury and it looks as if he will be out for a long time. This really hurts the Blazers because Roy is one of the best players in the league and has proven his role with the team. If they can not get Roy back then the team is in trouble because Roy is a great leader and is a great clutch player. I hope that Roy can come back and be a productive and healthy player for the Blazers team.
