The New York Knicks faced the Miami Heat at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night. The Knicks came out with excellent energy and for the first time they were able to defeat a top NBA team. The Knicks went into the fourth trailing by nine and they quickly went on a run that bought them back into the game. The play by the rookie Landry Fields was amazing; he scored 19 points, grabbed 13, and dished out 6 assists. He was so important to the Knicks winning against one of the NBA’s best teams. Fields has caught many by surprise including me. He continues to grow as an NBA player and is in the running for Rookie of the Year. Amar'e Stoudemire played well, scoring 24 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. He was able to keep the Knicks in the game early with his constant scoring. The hero for the Knicks could also be Danilo Gallinari, who scored 20 points including a huge 3 point shot to give the Knicks the lead. He really has done a nice job at getting to the free throw line. He has really stepped his game up and has given the Knicks another scoring option. The Knicks were able to hold down the Heat with a good defensive fourth quarter which allowed them to win the game.
The Heat were doing well in the third quarter, but in the fourth they allowed the Knicks to hit key three point shots. The Heat played well including guard Dwyane Wade who scored 34 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. This was his first game back after missing the last one with a migraine. He really had it going, but wasn’t able to score in the fourth. The Heat were without Chris Bosh who was out with a leg injury and will miss the Heats next 4 games. LeBron James scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the lost. He really didn’t have it, but was able to get to the line and score 10 points. He really means so much to this team because if he is on then the Heat are tough to beat,
The Knicks are starting to find the heart of their team and wins like this makes it feel good. The Knicks will play the Atlanta Hawks on Friday in Atlanta and won’t be an easy task.
