Knicks beat Bucks in Carmelo’s debut; Win 114 to 108

The New York Knicks faced the Milwaukee Bucks at Madison Square Garden in Carmelo Anthony’s debut as a Knick. The Garden was electric as they saw their hometown player come home. This game was close the entire way, but the Knicks were able to get the win. The Knicks were led by a Toney Douglas who scored 23 points and dished out 3 assist. He was a huge reason why the Knicks won the game because of his timely scoring and rebounding. He will get plenty of minutes since Raymond Felton is now with the Nuggets. He really stepped up in a big game. Carmelo Anthony was a huge factor in this game despite is cold shooting. Anthony was able to score 27 points and grab 10 rebounds in his Knicks debut. He was really important down the stretch as he hit timely baskets as well. New York is already in love with him because of his ability to score the ball and draw fouls. He has to adjust to the new players and the system that the Knicks run, but once he does that the Knicks will be the most dangerous team in the NBA. Chauncey Billups scored 21 points and dished out 8 assist in his Knick debut. He ran the game perfectly and made some tough passes to his new teammates.

The Bucks came into the night on a four game winning streak against the Knicks. The Bucks were able to get to the free-throw line and get the Knicks players in foul trouble. John Salmons, scored 27 points and dished out 7 assist. Salmons were able to get to the free-throw line as he took 13 free-throws and made 11. He is a great player to have on a team because he can score points at any time.  Andrew Bogut scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. He is a great center in the league and is playing injured right now. He is a tough big man to guard because of his quickness and ability to score multiple ways.

Amar'e Stoudemire was in foul trouble for most of the game, but was able to produce 19 points. He looked great early, but the Bucks were able to draw charges against him. He turned the ball over a total of six times. He also received his 15th technical foul of the season, one more and he will be suspended for one game. He would receive a suspension every even technical and will be fined.

The Knicks looked like a new team, but were able to squeeze out a hard fought win. The Knicks will play the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday at 7:30 PM in Cleveland. The Knicks learned more about their team in this game and hope to end their losing streak against the Cavaliers. The Knicks are currently on a nine game losing streak against the Cavs. Their last road win came on November 29, 2006. The Knicks will be excited and ready to take on the Cavaliers in Cleveland.
