The New York Knicks were excited to get Amar’e Stoudemire back after he missed the previous game with a sprained big toe. The Knicks were coming off a win in New Jersey against the Nets. They bought their energy in to the Hawks game as they played outstanding defense. The Knicks led most of the game and went up by 16 points at one point in the game. Many players played great in the game, but a few stood out to me. Amar'e Stoudemire is happy to be headed into the All-Star weekend as he played a great game. He scored 23 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. His presence and leadership is leading the Knicks in the right direction. He is playing in this years All-Star game and is expected to start. He really deserved the start because of his outstanding contributions to the Knicks this season. His teammate Danilo Gallinari played well as he scored 17 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. He has really been more consistent as of late and is a important player in the Knicks success. With trade rumors becoming more prevalent it was nice to see the Knicks come out and play a great game. Raymond Felton also made some nice contributions to the game, as he scored 13 points and dished out 11 assist. He is now rumored to be in the Carmelo Anthony deal, which is very surprising. He has done a lot in his short time with the Knicks and has held the point guard position down for the Knicks. I would love to see him stay because he has been a consistent player for the Knicks.
The Hawks had won the first two meetings against the Knicks and were in position to possibly win their third against the Knicks. The Hawks were never out of the game, but they couldn’t stop the Knicks hot shooting. Marvin Williams scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. He has been plagued by injuries this season, but when healthy can really help the Hawks. Mike Bibby played a great game for the Hawks and kept them in the game with his hot shooting. Bibby scored 15 points including 5 three-point field goals. He has been quiet this season, but look out for him in the second half of the season. The Hawks are one of the NBA’s top tier teams because of their playoff experience and great leadership. The Hawks hope to make a great run in the playoffs to capture an NBA title.
The Knicks will head into the All-Star break with a 28-26 record and are sitting in the 6th spot in the playoff spot. This All-Star weekend will be covered here at Caardel’s Blog. Every event will be included as well. Amar’e Stoudemire and Landry Fields are the only Knicks participating in this years All-Star festivities. This has been a memorable first half for the Knicks and I hope it continues into the second half of the season.
