The Los Angeles Lakers came into Madison Square Garden after beating the Boston Celtics 92 to 86. This was a terrible game for the Knicks as it saw them lose by double-digits. The Knicks have lost their game over the past weeks. The story of the night was the play of Kobe Bryant who scored 33 points (19 points in the first quarter) and 10 rebounds. He is back to playing good basketball and he looked unstoppable in the win. He didn’t play in the fourth quarter, but still was able to lead his team to victory. Pau Gasol played well and used his size to his ability. Gasol scored 20 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. The Lakers look as if they are starting to gain some of their momentum. They struggled through one stretch of bad basketball, but they have found a way to win.
The Knicks were out of it for most of the game. Raymond Felton played very well as he scored 20 points and dished out 7 assists. He has been playing well, but the overall effort of the team has been terrible. The Carmelo rumors are really affecting the team, but that is no excuse. The Knicks have to figure out their success and build on it. The Knicks are in danger of losing all of the confidence they have gained over the course of the season. Amar’e Stoudemire scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. He played out of his element because he tried to draw fouls on bigger players and it wasn’t working. The Knicks really have to find out what is wrong and fix it before it is to late. The Knicks now have a record of 26-26 and are sitting in the 6th seed, but the gap they have is slowly fading and they could possibly be knocked out of the playoff race if they aren’t careful.
