The New York Knicks went to Memphis to face the Grizzles, to start their short two game road trip. Ronny Turiaf returned to the Knicks lineup after missing the last three games with a leg injury. Chauncey Billups missed another game with a thigh bruise. The Knicks would shoot the lights out in this game as they shot 53.4 % from the field. The Knicks went up by 18 points before the Grizzles would come back to tie it in dying seconds of the 4th quarter. The Knicks would have to get the ball to the new superstar Carmelo Anthony. He hit a mid-range jumper with .005 seconds left on the clock. He scored a game-high 31 points, dished out 6 assists, and grabbed 5 rebounds. The Knicks were able to get the ball to a proven game winner as he hit a huge shot to close out the game. Carmelo is having a time as a Knick and is proving to the fans that he really wanted to come home. Amar'e Stoudemire was a dominant force as well, as he scored 26 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. He played really well the entire game despite having 6 turnovers. The Knicks have to be more focused on both ends of the court in order to avoid losing games. They almost gave the game away, but the Grizzles had turnover problems of their own. And when it mattered most the Knicks gave Melo’ the ball and he delivered the goods.
Toney Douglas played an outstanding game with his excellent shooting and passing. Douglas scored 18 points and dished out a career-high 10 assists. He is really playing well in the absence of Chauncey Billups. The way he set the tempo and found the open guys for the Knicks was amazing. Landry Fields had a brilliant game as well as he scored 16 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and dished out 6 assists. He is really one of the NBA’s best Rookies behind Blake Griffin, according to many people. Fields has effected the Knicks in a great way because he is always doing something to help the team win. The Knicks have now won 3 straight games and are starting to hit their stride.
The Grizzles were led by Zach Randolph who had 20 points and 11 rebounds. He was a key to their comeback even with his costly turnovers. The Grizzles fought hard to comeback against a weak Knicks defense. The Grizzles have to be stunned by this lost because they fought so hard to comeback, but the Knicks Carmelo Anthony was able to hit a tough shot. Toney Allen had a nice game as well as he scored 22 points and dished out 4 assists. He was a key to getting his team back into the game with his great ability to get to the basket and draw fouls. Darrell Arthur had a big game off the bench as he scored 21 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
The Knicks will play the Dallas Mavericks tomorrow in a tough road game that will test the Knicks in every way. If the Knicks can capture a win in Dallas they could possibly be on their way to an amazing season. Things are really looking up in New York again,
