The New York Knicks faced the New Orleans Hornets without star point guard Chauncey Billups. This game was played at Madison Square Garden in front of some great fans. The Knicks came out with something to prove as they wanted to avenge their lost to the Orlando Magic. They would end up doing that by blowing the Hornets out. Toney Douglas started in place of the injured Billups. Douglas ended up scoring 24 points, dishing out 5 assists, and grabbing 4 rebounds. He really stepped up and played hard. His play on both ends of the floor were remarkable. Once he becomes more consistent he could be a tough person to guard. Amar’e Stoudemire scored 24 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. He shot the ball really well and played his game. His mid-range jumper was in full effect and used his quickness to get past defenders. The All-Star forward showed why he is still a dominant force down-low. Carmelo Anthony played only 29 minutes as he contributed 22 points and played really well. He really didn’t have to do much, but his efforts were much appreciated.
Roger Mason Jr. played for the first time in a long time as he contributed 5 points. Shawne Williams scored 16 points off the bench and did an excellent job in getting his jumper going. He hit 4 three-point field goals. The Knicks were supported by all of their players. They played great as a team as they shot 54.4% from the field.
The Hornets Chris Paul had a terrible game as he only scored 4 points, but dished out 10 assists. He looked as if he didn’t want to play with the team. He didn’t look happy and more than likely will leave once his contracts up. David West scored a team high 16 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. He really didn’t have his shot going as he made 6 out of 16 attempts. The Hornets looked lost and tired on both ends of the floor as they couldn’t match the Knicks runs. The Knicks will play the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night at Madison Square Garden, as the Knicks will try to end their 10 game losing streak against the Cavs.
