Knicks blowout Nets 116-93

The New York Knicks took on the New Jersey Nets. Both teams were without two key players. For the Knicks Amar'e Stoudemire missed the game due to a left ankle sprain. The Nets were without guard Deron Williams who will miss the rest of the season with a wrist injury. He will have surgery on Monday. Kris Humphries also missed the game because of foot problems. The Knicks came out wanting to win and get a nice win on the road. They put forth the effort against a sub-.500 team. Carmelo Anthony came out hot and was hitting from all over the court. At the half Carmelo scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. He ended the game with 25 points and 14 rebounds. He had a great impact on the game as he played great on both ends of the floor. This marked the Knicks 6th straight win and they are now 13-12 since the Carmel trade. Chauncey Billups who was injured in the Sixers game did play. He contributed 22 points and dished out 4 assists. He was also great as he was able to take advantage of the terrible defense from the Nets. Neither Chauncey or Carmelo played in the 4th quarter. Each one has to be well rested in order for the Knicks to have a opportunity to make a run in the playoffs. Every Knicks scored in the game to make for an excellent played game.

The Nets had a great game out of Brook Lopez who scored 27 points in 31 minutes. He has had a great season against the Knicks. He has dominated every game this season against them. He was the only threat to the Knicks, but one person can’t beat a team. He has the potential to be a nice big man for the Nets for a long time. Travis Outlaw scored 16 points off the bench as he had his game dialed up from behind the 3-point arc. He hit 4 three-pointers each from a different spot.

The Knicks will try to get their longest winning streak on Sunday against the Indiana Pacers. Amar’e Stoudemire is not scheduled to play as they try to make sure he is 100% before he returns.
