The New York Knicks came into the night on a two game winning streak. With a win and a Bobcats lost the Knicks would clinch a playoff spot. The Knicks would eventually clinch a spot in the playoffs with their win and the Bobcats losing to the Wizards. The Knicks came out hitting on most of their shots and went up by 22 points. The Cavs would make a run to get within 10 points at the half. Then in the second half the Cavs came back within 2 points, but they couldn’t capture the lead. The Knicks would go on to win 123-107. The Knicks were led by Amar’e Stoudemire who scored a game-high 28 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. He played a better game in finding his offense and keeping the Knicks afloat. He has had an MVP like season as he has led the Knicks to their first playoff berth since the 2003-04 season. Carmelo Anthony had a nice game as he scored 25 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. He played a nice game early on, but his shot went cold in the second half. But every superstar knows how to score points. Anthony started to get to the rim and draw fouls. He went to the line nine times and hit all of his free throws. Chauncey Billups scored 20 of his 23 points in the first half, but he was on fire early on and gave the Knicks the lead. He was important to the win because when the rest of the team couldn’t hit shots he was able to score.
The Cavaliers beat the Knicks three times this season and with this lost they couldn’t wrap up the season sweep against the Knicks. Baron Davis had a great game as he scored 22 points and dished out 6 assists. He was very important to the Cavs coming back in the game. He has had a major impact for the Cavs since he came over in a trade from the Clippers. J.J. Hickson scored 23 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. He continued his great success against the Knicks this season. He is a great young player who is dominant in his post move. He will be a great young player for the Cavs to hold onto in the near future. The Knicks will play the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday.
