Knicks take the 6th seed as they beat the Sixers 97-92

The Knicks went to Philadelphia to take on the 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center. This game was very exciting for both teams as the Knicks went up by 19 points and saw their lead get cut completely as the Sixers took the lead. The Knicks lost Chauncey Billups to injury in the 4th quarter; he suffered a thigh contusion and did not return. He was really missed late in the game as the Knicks struggled to hold on to the ball. The Knicks did get a huge three from Mr. Clutch himself Carmelo Anthony who had an amazing performance. Anthony scored 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. He was a great force in the game because he took over the game with his strong scoring ability. The Knicks started the 4th quarter resting their starters with a big lead, but the lead was quickly dwindled. Amar'e Stoudemire scored 18 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and dished out 7 assists. He was great early on as he found ways to score. The thing that stuck out most for me was his passing which was very impressive. He gave his teammates the ball in the perfect spots and allowed them to score the ball. He had a few assists to Carmelo and they look to be getting more chemistry game-by-game. Toney Douglas scored 17 points off the bench. He has been playing much better during this four game winning streak and is a reason why the Knicks are playing much better. And with this win the Knicks climb over the Sixers in the 6th spot in the Eastern Conference standings.

The Sixers had an excellent game out of Thaddeus Young who scored 25 points and grabbed 7 rebounds off the bench. He played a major role in their comeback and scored with ease against the Knicks defense. He is a nice player that the Sixers can hold on to and know that he’ll give a lot of effort every night. Elton Brand scored 24 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. He played very well against the Knicks as he also contributed 4 blocks. He has played the Knicks very well this season and has scored over 20 points in all four matchups.

The Knicks will face off against the New Jersey Nets on Friday in New Jersey. They will look to continue their great streak and look to sweep the Nets on the season.
