The New York Knicks came into the night riding a six game winning streak. They would face off against the Indiana Pacers who are sitting in the 8th spot in the Eastern Conference standings. This was a very important game for the Knicks who are in a close race in the 6th spot in the standings. Amar'e Stoudemire missed his 2nd consecutive game with a sprained ankle. He really hasn’t been missed over the last two games due to the production of the bench. The bench scored 34 points and really filled the void of Stoudemire. Carmelo Anthony had a spectacular game despite the foul trouble. Anthony scored 34 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and dished out 5 assists. Anthony was locked in from behind the three-point line as he tied a career-high with six threes. He would hit the go ahead basket to give the Knicks a one point lead with 4.8 seconds to go. The Knicks would go on to win despite trailing by 11 points in the 4th quarter. Anthony has had a remarkable run with the Knicks since coming over in February. He has been the missing piece the Knicks needed in late game situations because he can give you points when you need them most. Chauncey Billups also had a nice game as he scored 21 points and dished out 7 assists. He really has been playing much better since recovering from his injuries. His leadership and ability to get to the free throw line makes him a one of a kind point guard. The Knicks are playing really well and are starting to look like they are turning the corner to becoming a great team.
The Pacers had a great game out of Danny Granger who scored a team high 20 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. He is a good player to have on a team because he can create offense for himself. He can take you off the dribble and or post you up. He is a nice young versatile player who can also rebound the ball. He is a huge factor if the Pacers are going to make a run in this years playoffs. Roy Hibbert used his size to take advantage of the Knicks players. He scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. He is a nice young player and sort of reminds me of a Brook Lopez in some aspects of his game. Both players are tall and have great mobility to create offense. The Pacers are going to be a tough team if they can stay focus and use their length to their advantage.
The Knicks will play the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night on TNT. The Knicks will more than likely have Stoudemire back in the lineup and ready to go.
