Mets defeat Marlins in Extras; Win 6 to 4

The New York Mets continued their series against the Florida Marlins. The Mets sent Jon Niese to the mound to start his season. He struggled in the first by giving up two runs on a Logan Morrison two run single. He would rebounded and allowed just one hit in his next six innings. He ended his night with just two earned runs also striking out three.

David Wright had an amazing game as he hit his first homerun of the year, along with two singles and two RBI’s. He played a great game on both ends of the field.

The Mets took the lead at the top of the 9th on a Josh Thole RBI single that scored Chin-lung Hu. The ball was then turned over to Francisco Rodriguez who would blow the save opportunity on a Greg Dobbs  RBI single.

The Mets would break up the tie on a David Wright RBI single that scored Jose Reyes. Then to cap off a nice night Willie Harris had a two run double to win the game.

This was an important game for the Mets because they now have the opportunity to win the first series against the Marlins. The Mets will play the Marlins tomorrow to close out the series.
