Mets win 5th straight; Beat Nationals 6-4

The New York Mets went to Washington D.C. to face off against the Nationals. Chris Young returned to the Mets rotation after being placed on the 15-day DL with bicep tendinitis. He faced off against Jordan Zimmermann who won his last start against the Mets on April 8th. Young gave up three homeruns to the Nationals hitters. He went 4.2 innings allowing 4 hits and 3 earned runs. Young has defiantly been the Mets best pitcher to star the season.

Jordan Zimmermann went 5.1 innings, allowed 9 hits, and gave up 5 earned runs.

This marked the Mets fifth straight win and they now have a 10-13 record. This team is starting to look great since the return of Jason Bay. And since Bay’s return the Mets are 5-0.

Game Notes:

  • Ike Davis went 3-4 with 2 runs scored. He is swinging a hot bat and continues to impress as his average sits at .338.
  • Carlos Beltran hit his 8th double of the season resulting in an RBI as he scored Daniel Murphy.
  • Jason Bay went 2-4 with two runs scored with an average of .368. He has started off really hot this season and is looking to put behind a terrible year last season.
  • Taylor Buchholz went two strong innings just giving up 1 hit. He is doing a great job in relief for the Mets and continues to be a strong force out of the bullpen.
  • Francisco Rodriguez picked up his 5th save of the season as he allowed just one hit in the 9th. He is starting to get opportunities and is beginning to get the saves.
