6The New York Mets faced off against the Washington Nationals to open up Citi Field for the first time this season. R.A. Dickey took the ball for the Mets as he faced off against the Jordan Zimmermann. This was a very upsetting game from the Mets stand point as the pitchers struggled to find the strike zone. R.A. Dickey struggled to get his knuckle ball over for a strike. He went 5.0 innings, allowed 6 hits, and allowed 3 runs. He also walked 5 batters which tied a career-high. He struggled the entire game, but he was able to get some help on the defensive side to prevent anymore damage.
Jordan Zimmermann went 5.1 innings, gave up 6 hits, and allowed 2 runs to score. He did an excellent job in getting ahead in the count and fell behind a couple of times, but was able to get out of any threatening jam.
The Mets offense stalled for the second consecutive game as they went 0-10 with RISP (Runners in Scoring Position). Mets came within one run, but each time they couldn’t convert on their opportunities.
The Mets will continue their series with the Nationals tomorrow at Citi Field. The Mets will try to snap their three game losing streak.
