Roy Halladay faced off against Jon Niese at Citizens Bank Park. Halladay had his best game of the young season and dominated the Met hitters. He went 7.0 innings, allowed 6 hits, and struck out 7 batters. He used everyone of his pitches with great control and velocity. He showed why he is a great pitcher.
Jon Niese pitched well, but the Phillies were able to clobber his pitches and score runs. He gave up 6 earned runs over 4.0 innings of work. He did well early on, but wasn’t able to stop the Phillies from scoring on him. He gave up 8 hits, but he did record 7 strikeouts.
Placido Polanco was excellent at the plate as he went 2-5 with a double and 4 RBI’s. He has had a great series against the Mets as he has knocked in 8 runs in the three game set. He has shown that he can get hot at the plate and help his team win games.
Raul Ibanez went 1-3 including a two run homerun in the 7th inning. He played a great game as he scored 3 runs to help his team get the win.
Game Notes:
