The Philadelphia Phillies faced the New York Mets at Citizens Bank Park. Mike Pelfrey faced off against Vance Worley. Pelfrey came out pitching great and didn’t allow a run through 3 innings. He struggled after that point and was taken out through 4.1 innings. He gave up eight hits, including four earned runs. Pelfrey is struggling at this point in the season and continues to look terrible on the mound. If Pelfrey isn’t careful he will be sent down to the minors until he can work out his issues. At this point in the season he is hurting the team with his terrible performances.
Vance Worley pitched a gem as he went 6.0 innings and allowed two hits. He was locked in on the mound and struggled in the later innings he pitched as he walked four batters. He did strike out five batters and most of them went down looking.
Ryan Howard had an amazing game from the plate as he hit two homeruns and knocked in six RBI’s. Howard hit a two-run homerun in the 4th inning and a grand slam in the 6th inning. He was locked in at the plate and he took the ball to the deepest part of the park.
Game Notes:
- Jason Pridie hit his second homerun of the season in the top of the 9th a two run shot.
- Ike Davis extended his hitting streak to 11 games as he hit his fifth homerun of the season.
