The New York Mets hosted the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night at Citi Field. The Mets were coming off a 5-2 win over the San Francisco Giants. The Dodgers came in bringing the hot hitting Andre Ethier with them. Ethier would extend his hitting streak to 30-games bringing him closer to the Dodger record. But the Mets sent Jon Niese to the mound to face Hiroki Kuroda. Niese went 5.2 innings allowing three runs and seven hits. He struggled early on as he gave up a run in each of the first two innings. He would settle down before he gave up another in the 5th. He wouldn’t get the win, but he allowed the Mets to stay in position to get the win.
Kuroda went 5.2 innings allowed five runs and seven hits. He gave up two huge homeruns to Ike Davis and Jason Pridie. The Dodgers gave him the lead on three different occasions, but he wasn’t able to hold off the Met hitters.
The Mets discovered that center fielder Angel Pagan will not return this weekend due to a setback with his oblique injury.
