The New York Mets took on the Washington Nationals to close out a two game series at Citi Field. The Mets took the first game of the series in a 3-0 shutout behind Jon Niese and his excellent pitching.
The Mets sent Dillon Gee to the mound to face the Nationals. Gee would have a no-hitter through 5.2 innings before a Livan Hernandez single broke it up. Gee would pitch one of his best career games as he went a career long 7.2 innings. He allowed just two hits and didn’t allow any runs. He is really pitching at an excellent level right now and continues to make his mark on the team. Gee now has a record of 3-0 and has earned his spot in the rotation.
Livan Hernandez pitched a good game, but gave up an RBI single to Justin Turner. Hernandez went seven innings allowing seven hits on one run. His team couldn’t get him any run support.
Game Notes:
- Justin Turner picked up his 10th RBI in his last five games. He is showing why he deserves to remain with the team.
- Jason Bay went 3 of 4 including a double.
- Francisco Rodriguez notched his 14th straight save.
