The New York Mets faced the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field tonight. They were playing the second game of a three game series. The Rockies took the first game on a 2-1 victory. In this game Mike Pelfrey pitched for the Mets and did a great job despite the three solo homeruns. Pelfrey did help his cause as he hit a two run double to pull the Mets up 4-2. Pelfrey’s outing was cut short because of a rain delay. Pelfrey went 6.2 innings allowing six hits on three runs. He was able to give up three solo homeruns that didn’t hurt him or the team. He really looked more controlled out there and pounded the strike zone for the second consecutive game.
Ike Davis left the game with a strained left calf on a collision with David Wright. He will be evaluated tomorrow and may miss the final game of the series.
Jason Hammel went 7.0 innings allowing four runs on seven hits. He struggled in the first as he allowed two early runs which put pressure on his offense. The Rockies were able to tie the game on two solo homeruns. One from Troy Tulowitzki and the other from Seth Smith. The Rockies would get another solo homerun from Carlos Gonzalez cutting the Met lead to one run.
Games Notes:
- Ike Davis went 1 of 2 with a two run single in the 1st inning the two RBI’s put him at 25 RBI’s on the year.
