The Mets played possibly their best game of the season as they took on the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The Mets put together excellent hitting and excellent pitching. Carlos Beltran had a great game as he went 2 of 4 with a two-run homerun and an RBI single. He was very influential in the way the game went tonight. The Mets needed a win tonight to keep up in their division. Jose Reyes went 1 of 3 with two stolen bases. The Mets tonight had a total of four stolen bases and that really helped them get the win tonight.
Mike Pelfrey pitched the best game of his season as he went nine innings allowing five hits on one run. The one run came on a Mark Trumbo homerun. Pelfrey gave the Mets bullpen a nice day off and he was able to hold down the Angels. The Mets are looking for this effort out of him every time he pitches. He has the potential to be a great pitcher, but he must be consistent in order to be great.
The Mets offense was able to cluster together hits and get the win. The Mets now have the potential to win this series and pull themselves back to .500.
