This afternoon the New York Mets took on the Texas Rangers looking to get a road win against a tough team. The Mets were looking to get back within a game of .500 with a win today. They came out ready to get a win as Jose Reyes and Willie Harris started the game with back-to-back singles. Carlos Beltran followed them up with a two-run triple to give the Mets a two nothing advantage. They came out wanting to give their pitching staff some early run support.
Jon Niese started for the Mets and pitched a nice game for his team. Niese went 5.2 innings allowing two runs on five hits. Niese left the game early with an rapid heart beat. He still pitched a great game despite leaving early. The two runs charged to him came on back-to-back homeruns by Adrian Beltre and Michael Young. And with this win Niese tied Dillon Gee with the most wins as a Met this season with eight.
Alexi Oganda started for the Rangers as he looked to snap a two game losing streak after starting the season 7-0. Oganda was hit hard as he was held to just three innings allowing six runs (four earned) on eight hits. He really looked bad today and is struggling for the first time this season.
The Mets offense came alive today as they had a eight run six inning. The Mets didn’t hit any homeruns, but they used their speed and clumped together hits to get this win.
Game Notes:
- Lucas Duda went 4 of 5 with four RBI’s and two runs scored. Duda hit three doubles today a career record.
- Jose Reyes went 2 of 6 with two runs scored.
- Carlos Beltran went 3 of 5 with three RBI’s and three runs scored.
