Today the Mets selected NC State right-handed pitcher Cory Mazzoni in the second round of the draft. Mazzoni throws up to 97 mph and has a hard breaking ball. Mazzoni also had 137 strikeouts in 114 2/3 innings.
The Mets also selected right-handed pitcher Logan Verrett in the third round. Verrett is a junior at Baylor University and was the 101st pick in the draft.
