The Mets played their second game of a three game series against the Atlanta Braves. This was a very important game for the Mets because they could have fallen further down in the standings. Dillon Gee would try to keep his perfect record intact as he faced off against the Braves. Gee pitched a great game as he went seven strong innings allowing four hits. He was phenomenal and he only threw 85 pitches. Gee in now the first rookie in Mets history to start his rookie season 6-0.
Jair Jurrjens pitched great until the 7th inning. He would give up three earned runs and would get his second lost of the season. Jurrjens was doing well before the 7th inning explosion. Jurrjens now has a 1.75 ERA and tonight was the most runs he has given up in a game this season.
Jason Pridie came in as a pinch hitter and hit a single that scored Jason Bay. Right after that at bat Jose Reyes hit his 10th triple of the season. That triple bought home three runs. Justin Turner would record a sacrifice fly to bring in Jose Reyes.
This was a very impressive win because the Mets didn’t back down from Jurrjens. Jose Reyes continued to show why the Mets have to find away to keep him. Reyes also had his 80th hit tonight.
Game Notes:
- Daniel Murphy went 2 of 4 and continues to swing a hot bat.
- Josh Thole went 2 of 3 with a double and a run scored.
