The New York Mets will take on the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight as they finish up a four game series. The Mets won yesterday to take a 2-1 series lead against the Pirates. The Mets are coming off a win in which they won 7-0. The team is playing very well right now and are getting excellent starting pitching. Capuano tossed seven shutout innings allowing just three hits. He has pitched well for the Mets and has avoided injuries. If he can keep this up the Mets will be in a great position to make the playoffs.
Jose Reyes continued his hot hitting last night as he went 3 of 5 with a solo homerun in the 9th inning. This was his second homer of the series and his third homerun of the season. He has been more than what the Mets expected from him. He is getting on base time and time again and putting himself in the proper positions to score. Reyes has kept a hot bat the entire season and is becoming the best shortstop in baseball.
Mike Pelfrey will start for the Mets as he looks to capture his fourth win of the season. He has pitched inconsistently this season and over his last four starts he has given up 16 earned runs. The Mets need him to pitch better if they are going to continue their run at a World Series title.
Paul Maholm will pitch for the Pirates tonight. He has been inconsistent as well and in his last start against the Mets he gave up six earned runs allowing the Mets to comeback and win. He has been great and then he has been terrible. If the Mets can sum hits together they can easily beat Maholm.

Jose Reyes SS
