Today the Mets will play their second game of a three game series against the Detroit Tigers tonight at Comerica Park. The Mets are coming off possibly the best feel good win of the season as they won 14-3. But the real story came on the two grand slams they would hit in the game. The first came by Jason Bay and then in the next inning Carlos Beltran decided to hit one out. The Mets power was in full effect last night as Josh Thole hit his first of the season. This was the first game in which the Mets hit for power in a long time. The importance of this win is will have a great impact of the Mets season. They were able to get over .500 and now seem to have all of the momentum going their way. If they can win this series against the Tigers and then beat the Yankees, they will possibly be first in the Wild Card or a couple of games out. I believe in this team and they can do anything they put their mind to.
Chris Capuano will get the ball for the Mets trying to give the Mets a great start. Capuano is coming off a great start against the Oakland Athletics as he went six innings allowing no runs on five hits. He was pulled out of the game after suffering a minor injury that did not result in any missed starts. Capuano has been a consistent pitcher for the Mets this season. The Mets are looking for their fourth win in a row and are counting on a excellent effort from Capuano.
Phil Coke will start for the Tigers as he looks to get only his second win of the season. Coke has given up nine runs in his last two starts and is really struggling this season. Coke will have a tough job in stopping this Mets offense from running wild on him. The Mets do have like they had last night a pitcher who gives up lots of hits. If they can get on base and run they will win the game.
