Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski has reported that
Yao Ming has retired from the NBA. A league source in fact did confirm this report. Yao was one of the biggest international attractions in NBA history. He globalized the sport of basketball a huge figure in the NBA. Yao declined over his career and only lasted eight seasons. He missed the entire 2009-2010 season and only played in five games last season before having season ending surgery. The 7 foot 6 inch center played all seven seasons with the Houston Rockets. Over his career Yao has had many surgeries on his ankles and feet. He was an eight time NBA All-Star and even without him playing he would win the Western-Conference starting spot.
