The New York Mets will play a three game series in San Francisco starting tonight. They will embark on possibly the hardest challenge of their season as they will face seven straight all-star pitchers. This is the first time in major league history that a team will face seven straight all-star pitchers. The Mets will have to do everything right in order to win some of these games.
R.A. Dickey will start for the Mets looking to give the Mets his best effort. Dickey left his last start with a glute injury in which only allowed him to pitch five innings. He is a tough guy who will pitch through anything. The Mets will have D.J. Carrasco ready in case Dickey can’t make it through his start. Dickey had a no decision in his last start as he allowed just one run on two hits. The Mets need a great start from him tonight as they go up against a tough pitcher.
The Giants will start right-handed pitcher Ryan Vogelsong as he looks to capture his seventh win. Vogelsong has been an electric pitcher this season and hasn’t given up more than three runs in any of his last ten starts. The Mets will try to break through to win this game, but it won’t come easy. In his last start Vogelsong went 6.2 innings allowing two runs on four hits and walking four batters.
The Mets have a tough assignment these next six games, but if any team can do it I know they can. This team has shown that they can hit around pitchers to get runs or in the most rare cases they can hit homeruns. The Mets will need every run they can get during these next six games.
