The New York Mets will face the San Francisco Giants later tonight at AT&T Park. The Mets are trying to win tonight to win the series at 2-1. They will be over .500 going into the All-Star game and are looking to gain back David Wright, Ike Davis, and Jose Reyes after the break. The Mets have a lot of going for them right now and have put themselves in the proper position to make a second half run.
Mike Pelfrey will start tonight coming off a great start against the Dodgers. Pelfrey went six innings allowing no runs on five hits. He really looked confident throwing strikes and has shown that he can really pitch. Pelfrey struggles with his confidence and when he can’t get command of the strike zone then he becomes shaken and can’t recover. He needs to give the Mets a great start tonight as they go up against the defending World Champs.
Matt Cain will oppose Pelfrey as he looks to get his eighth win of the season. He has pitched up and down this season, but overall he has pitched well enough to get to the All-Star game. Cain has been great this season and has been terrible, but the Giants are confident that he can pitch at a high level for the rest of the season.
