The New York Mets will face the Washington Nationals tonight at Nationals Park. The Mets are riding a four game winning streak as their offense continues to be red hot. The Mets are favored to win this series and continue their winning ways. If the Mets can somehow sweep the Nationals they will be really close to taking the Wild Card race by storm.
Dillon Gee starts tonight for the Mets looking to continue the Mets winning streak. Gee is coming off a no decision as he threw just five innings allowing three runs on seven hits. Gee really struggled as he walked three batters and put the Mets in a hole. Gee has to come out an pitch to the best of his abilities if he wants his team to get him a win tonight. The Mets need him to pitch with confidence and control his pitches. His changeup hasn’t been working for him over his struggles and he needs that pitch to have a great outing.
Chien-Ming Wang will make his season debut tonight against the Mets. Wang hasn’t pitched since July 2009 when he pitched for the New York Yankees. The Nationals are hoping he can give them a great effort tonight. The Mets will have the advantage tonight against the Nationals. Wang has pitched very well over his career so the Mets have to be aware that Wang can still pitch.
The Mets offense has been really great over the last ten games as they are 7-3 scoring over five runs over that stretch. They have been led by David Wright who is batting .454 over the last seven games with 12 RBI’s and two homeruns as well. He is leading this team now that Beltran is gone and he looks to be back to his old form. If the Mets are going to do something special this season he has to lead this team.
