The New York Mets will begin a four game series against the Cincinnati Reds tonight at Great American Ball Park. The Mets are coming off a 2-1 series lost to the Florida Marlins. The Mets won the first game, but lost the last two with late blown leads. They have to get their pitching under control as they continue through their season. David Wright proved to be a valuable asset as he returned from his back injury. His presence help the offense, but the defense and pitching has really let them down late in the game. If the Mets are going to win this series they will need to play at their best and limit the mistakes.
R.A. Dickey takes the mound tonight looking to snap out of his pitching issues. He hasn’t pitched strong at all this season and hasn’t been the force that Mets thought he would be. His struggles come every start and sometimes it can be hard to watch. But Dickey will try to get his fifth win of the season and hopes to give his team a great start.
Mike Leake will start for the Reds trying to keep his excellent pitching going. His last start was a move in the right direction for him as he went six innings allowing two hits on one run. Sadly, Leake was charged with the lost as his team was unable to get him any run support. The Mets can hit Leake and have to in order to beat this team.
Angel Pagan left yesterdays game in the fifth inning with dehydration. He isn’t in the lineup tonight.
