Pre-Game: Mets vs. Reds 7:10 PM

The New York Mets will play their second game of a four game series tonight against the Reds. The Mets won last night with the final score being 4-2. The Mets had better pitching last night to close out the game. Bobby Parnell, Tim Byrdak, and Jason Isringhausen all pitched well in relief as they held off a Reds comeback. Jason Bay knocked in a run with his first double in 50 games. And David Wright continued to swing the bat well as he went 2 for 5 with two singles and a run scored. His presence has clearly boosted the Mets offense and everyone is picking up after him. The Mets will try to continue their great hitting tonight against a tough pitcher.

Jon Niese will start tonight trying to give the Mets a quality start. Niese lost his last start as he went six innings allowing three runs on five hits. He really couldn’t get any offensive support in that game and it resulted in a lost. Niese has to come out and give this team all he has tonight because their season is slowly slipping away. If the Mets get a great start out of Niese, they will win tonight.

Johnny Cueto will try and keep his great starts going as he pitches for the Reds. Cueto has converted 12 straight quality starts and has an ERA of 1.98. His last start he went six innings allowing one run on four hits. He is a tough pitcher to hit because he pitches in the right spots and keeps the ball low. He rarely elevates his pitches and when he does he is hit hard. So if the Mets get any high pitches tonight they will have to make him pay.
