The New York Mets will be looking for their third straight win tonight as they go up against the Cincinnati Reds tonight. The Mets have won the first two games of the series and are looking to get a series win tonight with a win. The Mets were coming off a great game in which they were able to score eight runs. The Reds helped the Mets out last night as they committed three errors resulting in six unearned runs. The Mets took advantage of every opportunity given to them and were able to get the win.
Tonight the Mets will send Mike Pelfrey to the mound hoping that he can give them a great start. Pelfrey has given up eight runs over his last two starts and has struggled to keep the Mets in the game. He is a very inconsistent pitcher who hasn’t had many great starts. The Mets need a great game out of Pelfrey in order to keep up with the Braves in the Wild Card race.
Bronson Arroyo will oppose Pelfrey as he pitches for the Reds. Arroyo is having a awful season and is really hurting his team. He has an ERA of 5.56 and has given up 29 homeruns. The Reds are really not in the position that they want to be because of their starters struggling to give them good innings. The Mets have the advantage tonight because they have a great offense. If the Mets clump together hits they will easily win the game.
The Mets Angel Pagan will be back in the lineup after being fatigued over the last week or so.
Breaking News: Carlos Beltran has been traded to the SF Giants for a top prospect and two others. The deal is unofficial at this point and will be announced today or tomorrow. The deal is pending league approval and Beltran’s approval.
