The New York Mets continued their five game series against the Marlins tonight at Citi Field. The Mets were coming off a lost in which snapped their four game winning streak. Tonight the Mets were trying to get a win at Citi Field in front of their home crowd. This team is going great right now as they are beating the team they are suppose to beat.

The Mets offensively were able to get back into the game after they fell down by two runs. The Mets would come within one run in the 4th inning after a Nick Evans RBI single. They would later tie the game on a Jason Bay RBI single in the sixth inning. Then in the seventh inning Lucas Duda broke up the tie with a RBI single that scored Jose Reyes.

Chris Capuano started for the Mets trying to get his eleventh win of the season. Capuano was coming off a two-hit complete game effort in which he struck out 13 batters. But tonight Capuano struggled early as he allowed two runs in the first inning. After that he would get into trouble, but work out of it. He fought tonight even though he didn’t have his best stuff. He went five innings allowing two runs on seven hits. He really struggled and through those five innings Capuano threw 99 pitches. Capuano left the game in position to lose his 12th game of the season. But the Mets were able to tie the game and get Capuano off the hook.

Chris Volstad pitched for the Marlins looking to snap a two game losing streak. Volstad pitched very well as he went 6.1 innings allowing three runs on seven hits. He struggled late in the game which put him in line for his third consecutive loss. He really pitched well early in the game and was limiting the Mets from getting many hits. But as the night wore on Volstad struggled to get the outs needed to keep the score tied.

Bobby Parnell pitched the ninth inning looking to get his third save of the season. Parnell would battle and would get the save after he got excellent defense from his infield.
