The New York Mets faced the San Diego Padres in the second game of a four game series tonight at Citi Field. The Mets were coming off a walk-off win from Lucas Duda. They fought that entire game and deserved to win the game. Tonight they were looking to somehow get another win.
The Mets fell behind 2-0 and in the 4th inning the Mets were able to tie the game on two separate occasions. Scott Hairston put the Mets on the board with his RBI double to put runners on third and second. After Hairston’s double Ronny Paulino hit a sacrifice-fly to plate Jason Bay which tied the game at two.
Chris Capuano pitched for the Mets and overall didn’t have his best outing. He went six innings allowing four runs on nine hits. He really struggled to keep the Padres from taking the lead and after the Mets tied the game he allowed the Padres to tact on two more runs. He defiantly could of had a much better outing then what he presented. The Mets were unable to capture the lead at any point in the game and Capuano made that even harder to accomplish.
Wade LeBlanc pitched for the Padres looking to get his first win of the season. LeBlanc went six innings allowing two runs on six hits. He was able to record outs when he needed to which put him in position to get his first win of the season. He was in line for his first win of the season if his team could hold on.
In the 8th inning Angel Pagan hit a solo homerun to pull the Mets within a run. That homerun gave Pagan his sixth homerun of the season. Later in the inning with the bases loaded Nick Evans brings home the tying run on a sacrifice-fly that scored Justin Turner. The Mets fought back time and time again tonight after falling behind two times in this game. They were able to take their first lead of the game on a bases loaded walk. The Mets took the 5-4 lead into the 9th inning trying to close out the game.
Jason Isringhausen came in to pitch the 9th inning looking for his sixth save. Izzy would pitch a clean 9th inning to earn the save and give him 299 saves for his career.
