The New York Mets will host the Atlanta Braves tonight at Citi Field. The Mets will try to get a series win against their tough division rival. If the Mets can win this series they will push themselves closer in the Wild Card race. The Mets have to play to their best in this series and for the rest of the season if they are going to get into the playoffs.
Tonight R.A. Dickey will go to the mound for the Mets trying to get the team on the right track. Dickey is coming off a lost in which he gave up three early runs in a lost to the Nationals. The Mets offense didn’t score one run in that game and they never gave Dickey the opportunity to get the win. He has been up and down all season and hasn’t given the Mets a outstanding start. He needs to have his greatest pitching performance tonight if he wants this team to win.
Tim Hudson will oppose Dickey and will be pitching for the Braves. Hudson is coming off a win against the Florida Marlins in which he went seven innings allowing one run on six hits. He is starting to pitch very good for the Braves and may be getting himself ready for a great second half. He has shown that he can still pitch with the best of them. And when he is on he is a tough pitcher to face.
The Mets have to get some runs for Dickey tonight and get a much needed win. If the Mets lose this series they will be out of the playoff race in the blink of an eye. They can not afford to being swept because that will defiantly hurt them. It is time for the offense to carry this team again. They have to stay true to their approach and work from their. It’s a matter of time before the Mets offense takes off again. Hopefully it’s tonight against their division rivals.
