Pre-Game: Brewers vs. Mets 4:10 PM

The New York Mets will continue their three game series against the Milwaukee Brewers today at Citi Field. The Mets lost yesterday 6-1 in a game where their offense fell short. The Mets have struggled to get runs across the plate and their bullpen has also been the problem. The Mets have many areas they need to start looking at for next season if they want to be a successful ball club. The main area is their bullpen which ranks 26th in the league and is a real concern moving forward.

Chris Capuano will get the start for the Mets looking to get his second career win against his former team. Capuano went six innings allowing one run on six hits in his last start against the Brewers on June 7th earlier this season. The Mets need Capuano to give them the same type of start he gave earlier in the season if they have any chance at beating the Brewers. It is very important that the Mets win today because it would make it easier to beat the Brewers tomorrow. If Capuano can get the Mets through the game with minimum damage, they will possibly win the game.

Randy Wolf will face the Mets for the 34th time in his career today. Wolf is 12-5 lifetime against the Mets with a ERA of 3.21. He also has 167 strikeouts against them in 33 starts. He is a tough pitcher the Mets haven’t figured out over the years and today will be no different. Wolf faced the Mets earlier in the season where he went 6.2 innings allowing one run on four hits. He also struck out six batters and walked two. He didn’t get a decision in the Brewers lost, but he did pitch a great game. The Mets will have to try and beat Wolf if they want a win today.
