Pre-Game: Marlins vs. Mets 7:10 PM (Rain Delay)

The Marlins vs. Mets game is currently being delayed by rain. The Mets say that the first pitch should be approximately 7:55 p.m.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The New York Mets will end their series against the Florida Marlins tonight at Citi Field. The Mets have lost the first two games on two miscues in the field. They have struggled to hold leads and keep the game tied. This isn’t the Met team that we’ve seen all season. They are starting to get sloppy and lose focus getting to the playoffs. They have to play a better all around game tonight if they are going to get a win.

Dillon Gee heads to the mound tonight for the Mets as he tries to match his last outing. Gee went 6.2 innings allowing two runs on four hits. He dominated the Nationals hitters and gave the Mets an outstanding start. He needs to bring his best pitching effort tonight if his team is going to win. Gee hasn’t pitched that great after his nice start. He hasn’t been able to command any of his pitches and his changeup hasn’t been effective. The importance of a win tonight will ensure that the Mets get above .500 and will keep them in front of the Marlins in the standings.

Clay Hensley will start the for the Marlins trying to keep up his teams success. Hensley is 1-3 in just three starts this season after coming out of the bullpen. He has had great success against the Mets this season. He has allowed just two runs in just two starts against the Mets. He has dominated the Mets and hasn’t allowed them to score a bunch off him. The Mets need to figure out a way to score a bunch of runs tonight if they are going to beat this team. Hensley has pitched great for the Marlins and is looking to get the job done yet again.

The Mets need a win tonight to give their home fans something to cheer about. If they can get a win today they will keep pace with the Braves atop the Wild Card race.
