The New York Mets will continue their road trip as they take on the San Diego Padres in a three game series. They Mets are coming off a series lost by the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Mets were swept and are currently on a five game losing streak. They have lost their spark and are putting themselves in a rough spot. This team isn’t pitching well and when they do the offense can’t score. The Mets need a series sweep otherwise they will continue their free fall.
R.A. Dickey will start for the Mets trying to get revenge against the Padres who beat him his last time out. Dickey went six innings allowing three runs on six hits. He really didn’t pitch that poorly, but his team was unable to get him any run support. Dickey has the lowest ERA on the team, but he has the worst record of any starter on the team. Dickey has had terrible luck all season and needs to get something tonight. He deserves to get a win tonight after his terrible season. The Mets need Dickey to give them innings and keep the Padres from getting runs off him.
The Padres will send Aaron Harang to the mound as he looks for his second consecutive win against the Mets. Harang went 5.2 innings allowing three runs on ten hits with two walks. He wasn’t sharp in that game, but was able to get the win despite his terrible pitching. He didn’t allow the Mets to get clutch hits against him which saved him from a lost. The Mets have to come out and do the same thing they did to him in his last start if they are going to beat him.
