Tonight the Mets will play their final game of a three game series against the Padres. The Mets lost last night and are in danger of losing the series with a lost tonight. They have to come out and score if they want to win this game. The Mets have looked awful at the plate lately and they have struggled to score runs. They have to win tonight because they do not want to go back to New York on a two game losing streak.
The Mets will send Dillon Gee to the mound hoping that he can have a better outing then his last. Gee went five innings allowing four runs on five hits in his last start against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He has lost his success that he had earlier in the season and that is because he has lost command of his changeup. That pitch was his strikeout pitch and he isn’t throwing it well. Hopefully tonight Gee can get his his pitches working off each other and have some success tonight. The Mets have to play hard and want to win this game. They look like they are just going through the motions of just playing, but not playing to win.
Mat Latos will get the start for the Padres looking to get his seventh win of the season. Latos has struggled record wise this season, but isn’t pitching that poorly. Latos has a record of 6-11 with a 3.80 ERA. He hasn’t been getting much run support and that is the reason behind his terrible record. Tonight he will need to bring his best pitching if he wants to win. Latos is a strikeout pitcher so the Mets need to be patient and get their pitch to hit.
