Pre-Game: Mets vs. Phillies 7:05 PM

The New York Mets will play the Philadelphia Phillies tonight at Citizens Bank Park. The Mets are coming off a series lost to the Milwaukee Brewers. This team has lost many games over the last month and are now six games under .500 and it may get worst. This team has lost it’s bullpen and the starters are not getting great run support. The Mets have to at least make the other teams in the playoff race lose ground when they face them. They can not allow the bigger teams to just walk over them because next season will be that much harder.

Dillon Gee will go to the mound for the Mets looking to get his 12th win for the Mets. Gee has been very great this season despite the rough stretch he went into. Gee recorded a win against the Padres in his last start as he went 6.2 innings allowing one run on five hits. He really looked like the Gee from earlier in the season as he dominated the Padre hitters. It is very important that the Mets can get Gee a first inning run tonight because that will take some pressure off Gee as he goes up against a great pitcher in Lee. If Gee can command his pitches, he will put the Mets in position to get the win.

Cliff Lee will get the start for the Phillies looking to get his 14th win of the season. He has pitched very well for the Phillies this year and is a major part of their success. Lee is coming off a win in which he went seven innings allowing two runs on three hits and seven strikeouts. Lee will pile up the strikeouts tonight because that is a major part in his game. The Mets will need to use their speed to generate runs. Lee will compete hard tonight as he looks to get win number 14.

The Mets haven’t been stealing bases which is a cause for concern. When they steal bases it puts pressure on the other team and it will allow your team to score runs. The Mets have failed to accomplish that and is a major part in them losing games.
