Pre-Game: Padres vs. Mets 12:10 PM

The New York Mets will close out their four game series against the San Diego Padres today at Citi Field. The Mets won the first two and lost last night and are looking for a series win with a win today. The Mets have lost a total of three players this week Jose Reyes, Daniel Murphy, and Angel Pagan. These are major injuries to a already depleted lineup. The Mets have to get the best out of the young players today if they are going to win.

Jon Niese (11-8, 4.12 ERA) will start for the Mets trying to get his 12th win of the season. Niese has been the bright spot for the Mets this season. Simply because he is consistent and can keep the team in the ballgame. He has won two of his last three starts and each win came against great ball clubs. The Mets are looking for Niese to lead this team into this day game and get the win.

Cory Luebke (4-6, 3.06 ERA) goes to the mound for the Padres looking to build upon his last start. Luebke went seven innings allowing just one run on five hits. He really dominated the Pirates as he struck out nine batters. He has come out of the bullpen to start for the Padres and this will be only his eighth start this season. The Mets have to figure Luebke out in order to win this game. They will need to stay back early and find out how hard he throws.

This game will feature a pair of left-handed pitchers and both are talented. This game will come down to scoring and executing plays. The Mets will need to win this game in order to climb back over .500 on the season.
