The Mets played their final game of a doubleheader tonight against the Braves. The Mets were coming off a lost earlier in the day. That lost snapped a two game winning streak. The Mets rested David Wright and Angel Pagan in tonight’s game.
The Mets offense was at a minimum tonight as they were only able to get across one run on a Jason Bay sacrifice-fly. The Mets were shut down for the rest of the game even though they had plenty of opportunities to take the lead.
Dillon Gee started for the Mets and didn’t have his best game tonight. Gee went six innings allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits. He pitched the best that he could and kept the Mets within striking distance. Gee left the game with the Mets trialing and a lost coming his way.
Julio Teheran pitched for the Braves looking to earn his first Major League win. Teheran pitched well enough to leave the game with the lead. He went 5.1 innings allowing one run on five hits with two walks. He started slowly, but he was able to fight through the game and leave with the lead. He kept the Braves in position to win the game and they should be happy with that.
The Mets would go on to lose the game the game 5-1. Pedro Beato gave up two runs in the ninth to give the Braves a 5-1 lead. The Mets simply didn’t have it in the second game and their pitching struggled as well.
