Cardinals get past Mets 6-5

The New York Mets played the St. Louis Cardinals tonight at Busch Stadium. The Mets were looking to get a win against a tough team. They would lose Lucas Duda to injury in the first inning as he ran backwards into the wall trying to catch a fly-ball. He was replaced by Josh Satin who would have a impact on the game.

The Mets started Chris Schwinden who was trying to get his first Major League win. Schwinden would leave with the lead as he went six innings allowing three runs on six hits. He was locked in after he gave up three runs in the first two innings. He really pitched better as the game went on and he was able to put his team in position to get the win.

Jaime Garcia started for the Cardinals looking to get his 13th win of the season. Garcia went seven innings allowing four unearned runs on six hits. He was able to fight through his start and keep his team in the game. Garcia would leave the game with the lead and eventually get the win. He was able to get the lead after he left in the game.

The Mets offense was able to battle back in the third inning as they fought back to take the lead. The Mets were given two runs on a Angel Pagan two run single. The Mets would come within a run of the lead. Later in the inning Josh Satin hit a two run double to give the Mets a 4-3 lead. The Mets would hold that lead until the bullpen blew it in the seventh inning. The Cardinals would take a 6-4 lead into the ninth and Willie Harris homered to bring the Mets within a run, but the Mets would still lose the game. The Mets would fall to the Cardinals and this lost ensure that the Mets would have another losing season.
