Pre-Game: Braves vs. Mets 4:10 p.m. GM1

The Mets will play the Atlanta Braves in a doubleheader today starting at 4:10 p.m. at Citi Field. The second game will start right after the first game around 7:10. The Mets are coming off a series win against the Florida Marlins. The Mets found out during the road trip that Nick Evans can play a great first base and hit the ball well. They also had a successful appearance by Josh Stinson in his Major League debut. This team is on their way to closing out their season winning and not losing. The Mets have to continue to play well in order to make their record look better. They have to focus on finishing over .500 and doing their best this last month.

Tonight the Mets will send Chris Schwinden to the mound as he makes his Major League debut. Schwinden was 8-8 in the minor league and had a ERA of 3.95 in 26 starts for Buffalo. The Mets are hopeful that Schwinden can give them a great pitching performance tonight and help the Mets beat a division rival.

The Braves will start Mike Minor who is coming off a no decision in which he only gave up one run. Minor is pitching well since the Braves called him up. He is 4-2 with a ERA of 4.09 with a opposing average of .287. He had a no decision against the Mets on August 7th where he gave up four runs over 5.2 innings. He is a high strikeout pitcher so the Mets have to be ready to hit early in the count.
