Dillon Gee will start the second game for the Mets looking to rebound from his last start in which he allowed six runs over five innings. He can not afford to pitch the same way he did in his last start. For some reason Gee has lost command of his pitches and is allowing the opposition to get plenty of hits. He has to get his command back if he wants to have success in the league. His changeup hasn’t been his best pitch and that was why he was successful when he first came up this season. He has to get that control back in order to get wins. Gee has the potential to be a great pitcher in the Majors, but he has to get his control back if he wants to win.
Julio Teheran will pitch for the Braves looking for his first career win. Teheran has struggled to start his Major League career and is 0-1 in two career starts. Teheran also has a high ERA of 5.19 and is trying to show the Braves that he can pitch in this league. He is a right-handed pitcher who doesn’t strikeout many batters. The Mets have to be patient because he does walk batters and that always seems to work with this team.
The Mets are going to rest David Wright, Jason Bay, and Angel Pagan are expected to be out of the lineup in this game. Jose Reyes is expected to be back in the lineup.
