Pre-Game: Mets vs. Nationals 1:35 p.m.

The Mets will finish up their series today against the Nationals. The series is currently tied and a win today will give one of the teams a win of the series. The Mets lost last night after winning two straight games. Bobby Parnell struggled, but Terry Collins plans on keeping him in the closers role. Parnell has to pitch better if he wants to be considered as the closer for next season.

Today Mike Pelfrey will get the ball looking to rebound from his last start. Pelfrey went six innings allowing four runs on six hits. He has to pitch great tonight and give the offense some time to score some runs. Pelfrey must pound the ball in the zone if he has any chance at winning the game. His success comes when he throws the ball inside. He has to become more consistent because no one knows what Pelfrey the team will get.

Former Met Livan Hernandez will pitch for the Nationals looking to earn his ninth win of the season. Hernandez is still a great pitcher despite his age. Hernandez is coming off a win against the Braves and he is looking to earn another win tonight. He can change speeds so well and will always keep the hitters off balance. The Mets need to stay focus and hit the ball hard if they want to walk a way with a win.

Josh Satin will make his Major League debut today at first base.
