The New York Mets will play the third game of a four game series tonight at Citi Field. The Mets are currently on a four game losing streak. Tonight they will try to get back to winning against a pitcher making his first Major League start. The Mets pitching has struggled during this losing streak and many games have been lost in the late innings. Some how the Mets have to figure out a way to be more consistent in the later innings.
Mike Pelfrey will get the start for the Mets looking to get win number eight on the season. Pelfrey is coming off a start in which he allowed three runs over 6.2 innings. He was given a no decision after his team was able to comeback and win the game. He has pitched better and has only has only allowed four runs or more in two of his last ten starts. He has pitched better in the second half of the season then in the first half. The Mets are looking for a dominating performance from him tonight.
The Nationals will send Brad Peacock to the mound as he makes his first Major League start. Peacock had a 10-2 record with the Syracuse Chiefs the Triple-A affiliate of the Nationals this season. He pitches very well and can strikeout batters with ease. The Mets will have to hit early in the count in order to keep Peacock’s strikeout total down.
The Mets will have to bat against a new face in Brad Peacock tonight. But can beat him if they can get hits off him. Jason Bay returns to the lineup after missing last night’s game with a sore shoulder.
