Pre-Game: Phillies vs. Mets 2:10 p.m.

The New York Mets will play their final game of a three game series against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citi Field. The Mets swept both games yesterday as they handed the Phillies their eighth straight lost. The Mets won both games with their offense in which is going really well now. The Mets need to somehow channel some runs tonight as they go up against the Phillies best pitcher.

Roy Halladay will start for the Phillies looking to get his 19th win of the season. Halladay is coming off a lost to the Cardinals where he allowed four runs on six hits through eight innings. This was only the second lost in the last ten games for Halladay. His team has struggled to score runs and has an average of 2.0 runs per game during this streak. If the Mets can get at least four runs off Phillies pitching they will win the game.

The Mets will send Mike Pelfrey to the mound as he looks to get the sweep for his team. Pelfrey is coming off a no decision where he gave up five runs over six innings. The Mets need Pelfrey to hold the Phillies down because Roy Halladay will probably have a great game. A win today will give Pelfrey just eight wins for the season. He has to close out his season with a win and hand the Phillies another lost.

This series has already been won by the Mets and they have nothing to win. But if they win today they will just make their fans forget about a tough year… for now. This team has fought all season and a win today will solidify their mantra for the season.
