The New York Mets will play their second game of the day against the Phillies in a couple of hours. The Mets are looking for win number two against the Phillies and hand them their eighth straight lost. The Mets won the first game today 2-1 in a very entertaining game. The Phillies offense continues to struggle and the Mets were able to get two late runs to win the game.
The Philadelphia Phillies will start Joe Blanton in game two as he makes his first start since he was activated from the disabled list. Blanton started just six games and had a 5.50 ERA during those six games. The Phillies want to see where Blanton is in his recovery and how he could help the team in the postseason. The Mets were responsible to Blanton’s slow start as he went 4.1 innings allowing seven runs on ten hits. The Mets roughed him up, but Blanton was able to walk away with a no decision.
The Mets will send Dillon Gee to the mound in the second game. Gee is coming off a not so good performance when he gave up four runs to the Braves in a no decision. He has to pitch better in possibly his final start of the season. His pitching has gone down after his great start to the season. The offense of the Mets has to score some runs for Gee tonight. If they can do that for Gee he will more than likely win the game.
